All of which guiding you to be able to both feel your body and safely move from posture to posture. . In Ardha Uttanasana the most common things I see are: . Trying to reach hand to the earth or ankles when there is not enough length in the hamstrings. . Rounding of the lower back . Rounding of upper back . Compression in back of neck Tips: . Soften the knees . Lift up buggier than you think you need to . Reach crown of the head away from tailbone . Eyes to front line of the mat (eyes not looking up ahead)

The Half-Forward-Stretch Pose (Ardha-Uttanasana) .. The pose stretches your back (posterior) and should be done before the full forward stretch (purna uttanasana). 1. From tadasana, with your arms raised, slowly exhale while pushing your buttocks back. 2. Lower your upper body, keeping it straight until your torso is horizontal. 3. Keep chin down. 4. Hold for 3 breaths. .. Check points: 1. Knees pointing forward. 2. Thigh, calf, gluteal muscle and hamstrings are tight. 3. Push your arms and shoulders forwards. 4. Naval sucked in to activate core. .. My lazy method to get the same stretch using the wall: 1. Stand infront of a wall. 2. Place your hands on the wall, shoulder width apart. 3. Place your head between your arms and walk your hands down, take a few steps back if needed. You should feel the stretch starting whilst your hands are moving. 4. Once you feel your upper body is parallel to the floor, push off the wall and tada!
Key call outs here: 1. Shoulders stack over hips. I often see the shoulders/torso either too far forward or too far back 2. Front knee over ankle AND TOWARD the pinky toe side of foot. We must keep the external rotation of our hip here and be cautious not to strain the knee joint by rotating the knee internally 3. Back foot grounds down on KNIFE edge. The back leg needs to be just as active as the front leg. You should feel it working 4.
