Thank you all for coming to my class at @yogalab._ East this morning ❤️ I really love teaching this level 2 class so much! • Here's the review of today's transition from #ustrasana to #urdhvadhanurasana as I found this video I took, and forgot to post! I tried to slow down as much as possible, so take a look 😉 • Tips! 🙋 "HIPS FORWARD!" is your mantra. Always keep pushing your pelvis forward. The moment you sink your hips, you'll crash on the floor! 🙈 • 🙋 USE YOUR QUADS and SQUEEZE YOUR GLUTES to push your hips forward! The stronger your quads are, the less pressure on your low back 😊 • 🙋 SHOULDER BACK, CHEST FORWARD! When you drop back, don't round your shoulder. You will lose the power. So TRUST YOURSELF MORE 😘 • Having been teaching this transition, I noticed the biggest blockage is the fear. I know it's scary. But trusting yourself is the biggest key in any Backbend. 💪 • I'm teaching the level 2 in East on next Monday, too! ▶️Monday Tips: #Kapotasana . 1. Hang there opening the chest shoulders back no tension in the neck. Stay there controling your breathing 2. Prepare with hollow body position: tuck in pelvis, ribs in, you can squeeze slightly the gluteus. 3. Straight arms to the sky and bringing arms as back as you can without changing the rest of the body. 4. Then allow the natural curve of your body and stick out as much as you can your butt , head tilts back like wanting to touch the butt. 5. When you reach the maximum there straight arms and breath. 6. Touch the floor or grab your heals without rotating the shoulders (that's easier way to get in but much higher probability to injure yourself) 7. Keep the upper body active, don't let the head collapse on the floor. Forearms pressing slightly and elbows in as parallel as possible. Quads and core muscles engage. 8. With the inhale lift slightly and exhaling try to go deeper. No matter how little or much deeper. 9. Straight your arms and try to keep elbows straight. 10. With the inhale come up reversing how you came in. Last thing the head and make sure you end with the hollow body (tucking in and ribs in which I didn't do because I was talking to someone asking for assistance in the next pose 🤔) . . .
