Restorative Yoga! As promised, I'm going to be posting more restorative poses ❤️ I figured I'd start with my favorite restoring pose first, Supta Baddha Konasana, aka reclined bound angle pose or reclined cobblers pose. . As you can see, I've got 5 different variations here. But the options are endless. As long as you've got the bottoms of you feet drawn towards touching and an opening in your chest and hips, you're doing it right. I'm using yoga props here, but you can use anything you've got in your home (blankets, pillows, books). I highly recommend getting props though, if your budget allows. They're worth the investment. This pose can also be done with no props though. . Supta Baddha Konasana benefits - - Soothes the nervous system and helps with symptoms of anxiety - Increases circulation in the lower abdomen which helps with menstruation issues - Opens the hips and chest - Increases circulation in the abdomen which improves and aids in digestion - Provides a passive deep stretch for the inner thighs - Feels amazing and allows for deep relaxation. . This pose is meant to feel good. If you feel a strain anywhere, adjust or add props to support. Common areas that need extra support are the outside of the thighs, the arms, the feet and ankles and the head / neck. . Day 7 and last of my #nowilaymyasanatosleep I've chosen #suptabaddhakonasana or #recliningboundanglepose I love this position cause is so relaxing. And using a folded mat/blanket or pillow under the back is just helps to relax your back even further, whilst mild stretching the lower back. How To: Keep bottom of feet together (like in a butterfly position). Relax the knees and allow them to get closer and closer to the mat with each exhale. Palm facing up, or in a mudra position (my choice), arms away from the body, chest relaxed..Use blocks under your knees if the pressure is too much on the hips. Benefits: Hip opener. Increases blood circulation on the lower abdomen, stimulating the organs. Stretches inner thighs, groins and knees. When you want to relax into a nice yin pose in the grass and your dog has other ideas 🤣 🐶 #suptabaddhakonasana might be one of my all time favorite poses, so much so that I will often use it in place of #savasana. Today it is clutch for managing some awful monthly cramping, and bringing it outside in the cool sunshine and fluffy green grass makes all the pain so much more tolerable.
